In the school year 2006-2007 thirty thousand students (from 5 to 25 years old) participated in projects, meetings, their own shows or assisted in evening performances in the theatres. This number is constantly growing which is proof of the attention that the Opera di Roma has paid to form a new public and develop music for the young.

Instruction and entertainment have become the means by which knowledge of both opera and dance can be spread. Using different approaches according to age, from elementary to secondary school level, finishing with members of conservatories and academies etc... the daily secrets of a great theatre are unfolded. The creativity and the technical expertise that is revealed in every aspect of its preparations: orchestration, plot, songs, scenery, lighting and costume.

Before coming to the theatre, publications, melodramma or ballet and their history, are available to students and teachers for either a guided visit, workshop, seminar or recital.

The educational initiatives are mainly held at the Teatro dell'Opera and the Teatro Nazionale, in their scenic laboratories and costume storage rooms, but also in museums, galleries, classrooms and universities.

The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is a member of

• Special recitals reserved for schools at Teatro dell'Opera and Teatro Nazionale.

• Didactic projects praised by all different ages.

• The recetly started adventure by the Giovane Orchestra dell'Opera.

For recitals reserved for schools a reduced ticket of : 12 euro for performances at the Teatro dell’Opera, 6 euro for the performances at the Teatro Nazionale
The young up to twentyfive years are permitted to have a discount of 30 per cent on the cost of any ticket for performances in programme.
