They started to fill up the corridors and the rehearsal rooms since october 2007, with unmitigated enthusiasm and modesty to enter in this noted place of culture, and from monday to saturday have become the <<padroni>> of the theatre. One hundred and thirty children and and youths, young musicians, of the Youth Orchestra dell'Opera, the music workshop created and funded by the council of Rome (assessorato alle politiche di promozione della famiglia e dell’infanzia, dipartimento XVI), of whose activities have only just begun but intend to establish itself for the good of Rome.
The intention is to offer a new opportunity in which to approach the tradition of theatre music, passing on national cultural heritage. To be part of the youth orchestra the only one that is specifically intended for opera music is a way of living as main characters the magic of opera, without professional intention but critical spritual knowledge.
In its repertoire, other than operas and romantic ballets, operettas and musicals will also be programmed. During its future activity it will be exhibiting in italian and foreign youth festivals, playing and recording concerts, both at home and elsewhere. The twice weekly rehearsals, each three hours long, take place during the school term from October to June. Obligatory participation. Costs forty euro per person. At the end of every four years a diploma of participation is issued. At the start of 2008 a second phase of selections will be made.
